Locked out at 2am? I actually answer.
Most of what gets advertised as a 24 hour locksmith is a call centre that takes your details and finds somebody. You are calling me, and I am the one who turns up.
What I open
Houses, cars, storage units and businesses. I carry the tools to open a lock without wrecking the door in the process, which matters more than it sounds: drilling is quick and it turns a lockout into a hardware bill. I drill when the lock leaves no other option, not because it is faster.
What it costs at 3am
The same service call as at 3pm, $39 to $89 depending where you are. I do not have a night rate that appears once I am standing there. What the job itself costs depends on the lock, and you get that number on the phone before I drive out.
If you are locked out right now
Check the obvious doors first, because I have driven to a house where the lanai slider was open the whole time. Then call rather than text, tell me where you are and what you are locked out of, and I will give you an honest arrival time. Most Naples calls are 30 to 35 minutes.
The warning worth reading
If somebody quotes you $19 on the phone, that is not the price. It is the oldest trick in this trade: a low number to win the call, then a much bigger one once your door is open and you are in no position to argue. A real locksmith will give you a range before they set off and will not be offended that you asked.
