If there is nothing left to copy, I can originate a key from scratch. That is the job most people are told needs a dealer and a tow, and it is the single most common reason somebody calls me about a car.
Why the registration matters
I am a NASTF-registered Vehicle Security Professional with Secure Data Release Model access. That is the vetted channel locksmiths use to get key and immobiliser data directly from the manufacturer. Without it, a key for a car with nothing left to copy is guesswork. NASTF vets the people it credentials, and you can check that.
Keys and ignitions I handle
Transponder keys, remote head keys, flip keys, proximity fobs and push-to-start smart keys. I repair and replace ignition cylinders as well, so a failed ignition does not mean a second appointment.
Makes I work on
Domestic and Asian makes. I do not work on European cars, so BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, Volvo and Land Rover are a no from me. I would rather say that here than take your call at 11pm and let you down at the kerb.
What to have ready
Proof that the car is yours, a photo ID, and the VIN if you can reach it through the windscreen. Nobody who originates keys properly will skip that step, and anybody who offers to is worth hanging up on.
