IMMOKALEE

Locksmith in Immokalee, FL

Immokalee is about twenty eight miles east of me, inland and a long way from any beach, which makes it the least coastal place I cover and the one that reads least like the rest of my map.

Where I go in Immokalee

I cover the Immokalee Regional Airport area, Lake Trafford, Main Street and New Market Road.

The drive

Out Oil Well Road, or Immokalee Road. Both are genuinely rural and there is no fast way to do it. My Naples arrival window does not apply out here, so I will give you a real number for your address before I set off rather than a hopeful one.

Padlocks, hasps and packing house doors

Immokalee is older single family housing with a lot of agricultural and light industrial building around it. Workshops. Equipment sheds. Packing houses with a roll up door and a hasp holding it shut. The hardware follows the buildings, so out here I open and rekey far more padlocks and utility locks than the gated community hardware the coast runs on.

That changes how a job goes. On the coast I am usually standing at one front door. Out here the lock that failed is just as likely to be on a shed or a workshop, and it has been sitting out in the weather since the last time anybody needed it.

What Immokalee calls me for

Mostly rekeys. After that it is locks on agricultural and commercial buildings. A property changes hands, or somebody leaves and the key goes with them, and every lock on the place has to stop answering to it. Car work is a small slice of what I do out here, which is the reverse of nearly everywhere else I cover.

The busy months are the growing months

Immokalee is busiest through the winter growing season, because that is when there is work here. The beach towns are busy in winter too. They fill up with people who flew in, and Immokalee fills up because the crops are ready, and the two have nothing to do with each other. Summer out here goes quiet in a way the coast never does.
