KEY CUTTING

I cut your spare keys at your door in Naples

The cutting machine is bolted into the van, so a spare gets made where you are standing instead of where a store happens to be. House keys, car keys, and car keys that need programming after the cut.

What I can cut in the van

House keys are the quick ones. You hand me the key, I cut it, you try it in the door before I leave. Car keys take longer, because a modern one has to be cut and then programmed to the car before it will crank, and I do both parts on the same visit. Transponder keys and laser cut keys are no trouble.

Cars are domestic and Asian makes only. European is something I do not touch, and I would rather you hear that on the phone than after you have waited on me.

A copy of a copy drifts

Every cut is a fraction off. Copy a copy, then copy that one, and eventually the blade sits far enough from the original that the key drags, sticks, or stops turning the lock at all. People blame the lock. Usually it is the key.

So hand me the original if you still have it, not the worn spare that lives on your keyring. If the original is long gone, I can originate a fresh key from scratch rather than copy the damage forward another generation.

Keys stamped do not duplicate

Naples has a lot of condo towers and offices running restricted keyways. If your key is stamped do not duplicate, or the keyway belongs to the building rather than to you, I need written authorization from the building before I cut it. No letter, no copy.

That is the whole value of a restricted key. It only works if nobody can walk up to a locksmith and talk their way into one. A shop that copies yours on your word alone will copy your neighbor’s on somebody else’s word, and then your building is paying to rekey every door. Get the authorization from your property manager and call me back.

One house key copy is free

If you are already paying me for a service call, a copy of one house key comes with it. Nothing to sign up for and no catch attached. It is there because most people find out they only own one key on the day they lose it.

Getting me out to you

I pick up the phone at any hour, any day of the week. A typical Naples address puts me there in 30 to 35 minutes. Further out takes longer and I will give you the honest number when you call, not after. The service call runs $39 to $89 depending on where you are, and what the keys themselves come to depends on the lock in front of me. I take cards and Apple Pay. Cash works too. Call (239) 469-2254.
