LELY

Locksmith in Lely, FL

Lely is about ten miles southeast of me, and hardly any of it is a detached house with its own front path.

Where I go in Lely

I cover Lely Resort, Lely Golf Estates, the Players Club, and the communities off Collier Boulevard and Rattlesnake Hammock Road.

The drive

Southeast on 41 and then inland. The drive itself is short. Finding the right building once I am inside a master planned community can take longer than the road did, so give me the building and the unit number rather than the name of the community.

Association hardware, and the key the building already holds

Most of Lely is villas and condos and coach homes rather than detached houses, which changes the job before I arrive. One shared entry door serves several units, and the association usually has a standard for what is allowed to go on it. I find out what that standard is before I hang anything new, because a lock that breaks the rule comes straight back off at the owner cost.

The other thing that is different here is that the building may already hold the only other key to your unit. That is worth knowing before you pay anybody to open a door. If the office is open, try the office first, and I will say so on the phone rather than drive out for nothing.

What Lely calls me for

Rekeys and condo entry hardware, plus a steady run of community mailbox locks. The mailbox banks are their own thing. One bank serves a whole row of homes, the lock is small and it is nothing like a door lock, and a lost mailbox key brings me out here more often than anywhere else I cover.

Season

October and April run this place. Owners come back in the autumn and open a unit that has been shut since spring, so that is when the stiff locks and the missing keys turn up. In April they close it behind them and my phone goes quiet until the following season.
